US Federal Aviation Administration orders to check Pratt & Whitney engines after incident in Colorado

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued an emergency airworthiness directive that requires American operators of aircraft equipped with certain Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines to inspect these engines prior to the flight, the FAA reported.

These actions by the US Federal Aviation Administration are linked to an incident that occurred on Saturday on a Boeing 777-200 after taking off from Denver International Airport.

Although the plane landed safely, the failure resulted in engine damage, fire in the inboard engine, and damage to the aircraft.

A Boeing 777 with 241 people on board had an engine failure on Saturday, and large parts of the engine casing fell from the plane.
