Former acting President of Bolivia Jeanine Anez was hiding under the bed when the police arrived to detain her, the El Deber newspaper reported on Saturday.
Anez was at a relatives’ home in Trinidad when law enforcement officers came for her and searched her. The ex-president was found in a box under the bed.
She was detained as part of a coup investigation and taken to La Paz, where she is to testify.
Former Minister of Justice Alvaro Coimbra and ex-Minister of Energy Rodrigo Guzman were also detained.
In addition, prosecutors have issued arrest warrants for three former members of the Anez government and ex-commanders of the army, navy and air force.
Charges of “terrorism, incitement to rebellion and conspiracy” were brought against them.
