In Japan, Pacific bluefin tuna went was sold for 16.9 million yen, according to The Independent.

A gigantic 211-kilogram fish caught off the coast of Aomori province was sold during a traditional New Year's auction at the Toyosu wholesale market in Tokyo.

The huge tuna was bought by the Onodera Group restaurant chain with the assistance of Yamayuki. 

The cost of tuna sold at Toyosu New Year's auctions has been declining for the third year in a row. In the past, hundreds of millions of yen were given for one fish, and in 2019 a record was set - 278 kg Pacific bluefin tuna was sold for 333.6 million yen. The fall in prices is associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, which hit the Japanese restaurant business.
