A total of 120 people were arrested and two were injured during a crackdown on coronavirus restrictions outside the New Zealand parliament, Euronews reported.

The protesters, who arrived in Wellington from different parts of the country, followed the example of Canadian truckers and called their action "Convoy 2022".

New Zealand went on red (maximum) alert at the end of January due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Earlier, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern had advised protesters to respect the rules and leave parliament, noting that not all New Zealanders shared their views.
