Ali Shadmani, the new chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, was killed in an overnight airstrike against Iran, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reports.
Israeli Air Force fighters attacked a headquarters in the heart of the Iranian capital Tehran at night and killed the chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, Ali Shadmani, who was the highest-ranking military commander and the closest person to Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, the IDF said in a statement.
Shadmani was appointed chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces a few days ago after the assassination of his predecessor, the IDF.
