Estonia's defense spending will increase to a minimum of 2.7% of GDP. Estonia's defense minister Hanno Pevkur noted, according to Estonian national broadcaster ERR.

According to him, this is required by "the current security situation. The minister recalled that NATO membership requires 2% of GDP as a member state, but Estonia "has already surpassed this figure.

Pevkur said that the money will be spent on creation of air defense "bubbles" (air defense controlled zones) that can be relocated. Now the question of the number of these zones is being decided - two or three.

The republic is going to buy HIMARS and coastal defense systems. The total cost could reach 1.2 billion euros, the Estonian defense minister said.
