California has recommended more than $223,000 in reparations to black residents who suffered from housing discrimination, The New York Times reported.

A task force considering reparations decided on the payout after reviewing the cases of Americans whose ancestors lived in the U.S. in 1933 and 1977. Discriminatory housing practices against blacks include buying them out for low value or seizing their property to build infrastructure.

There are several ways to pay reparations: tuition, housing allowance, or issuance of the full amount.
