The conference of the Chamber of Representatives of the Belgian Federal Parliament decided to honor the memory of Armenian Genocide victims with one minute of silence before Thursday’s session.

The decision was adopted with a joint proposal by Chamber members Françoise Schepmans et Denis Ducarme, reported La Libre daily of Belgium.

The daily recalled that solely the Belgian Senate has recognized the Armenian Genocide, whereas the federal government has never spoken on this matter.

The Belgian Chamber of Representatives is making such a gesture a week after the Armenian Genocide debates at the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region, where three MPs were against honoring the memory of genocide victims with one minute of silence.
