December 24, 2009 Catalyn B ferry capsized at the mouth of Manila Bay, leaving 37 people missing.
The wooden-hulled ferry with 59 passengers aboard collided with a fishing vessel and sank, AFP reports referring to regional coastguard.
The rescuers retrieved the bodies of 32 passengers and 14 crew members.
The ferry was making its way to Lubang island at 9p.m, southeast of Manila, Interfax informs referring to local officials.
According to regional coastguard, the collision with fishing vessel occurred on Thursday, at 2:25 a.m. Thick weather possibly caused the accident. Local law enforcement agencies investigate the accident circumstances.
