Pope Benedict XVI was attacked during Christmas divine liturgy in Vatican. The incident occurred at his Christmas sermon in St. Peter’s, Associated Press reports. A woman leaped over the barrier and towards the Pope and knocked him down, but security guards tried to overwhelm her.

However, the pontiff, 82, got on his feet not getting hurt and proceed with his speech. The woman was detained right after the incident. She is suspected to be mentally unstable.

Supposedly, same woman tried to jump at the Pope last year, ITAR-TASS informs.
