Georgia plans to raise objections to the forced issuance of passports in Abkhazia and South Ossetia at the PACE session in Strasbourg, the members of the Georgian delegation to PACE, Vice-Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Paata Davitaya and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Relations with Europe David Darchiashvili, stated this Wednesday.

Davitaya reported that persons having Georgian ID cards will not be allowed to enter South Ossetia from January 10. As regards Abkhazia, from February 1, 2010, all the citizens must have either Abkhazian or Russian passports or they we will deported from the country.

Georgia has thus decided to draw international agencies’ attention to the problem and object to the issuance of passports in Abkhazia and South Ossetia and prohibition of Georgian passports.
