YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan held a working meeting to discuss the education matter concerning Syrian-Armenian children who currently are in Armenia.    

The discussants examined the issue of establishing a new school, in a capital city Yerevan school, and in compliance with Syria’s curricula, Education and Science Ministry press service informs.   

This education process will be supervised by a Syrian Armenian appointed by the Ministry, the textbooks and curricula will be brought from Syria, and Syrian-Armenian teachers will educate these children. 

The Social Democratic Hunchakian Party of Armenia will provide the funding for this school.  

Armen Ashotyan was informed that 210 Syrian-Armenian children have so far applied for receiving education in Armenia’s schools, and the Minister instructed to enroll these children regardless of the circumstances.

“If they wish, the Syrian-Armenian children can also attend ordinary Armenian schools and receive education in line with Armenia’s curricula,” the Minister noted. 

The discussants also reflected on the avenues for organizing the education of Syrian-Armenian students studying in universities.
