YEREVAN. - On Thursday at 3:00 pm police officers of Yerevan city Erebuni district detected 180 kg cannabis-like 744 plants and 21g dried, yellow-green colored cannabis-like bulk at Mkrtich M.'s backyard garden.   

Police communication department informs that according to Mkrtich M.'s statement, the plants were cultivated for his own use. 

At 3:45 pm of the same day Mkrtich was taken into custody.  

Comprehensive forensic  medical and chemical examination is assigned.

Investigation is underway. 

Earlier Armenian police informed that on Aug 7-30 "Cannabis-poppy-2012" operative preventive program was held throughout the country for preventing illegal drug circulation. As a result 82 tones and 666.6 kg of cannabis and 39 kg green masses of poppy were detected and destroyed.
