YEREVAN. – Officers from the Police General Department on Combating Organized Crime demonstrably detained the young bodyguards inside Prosperous Armenia Party MP Karo Karapetyan’s car and took the vehicle to a police station, Zhoghovurd daily reports.

“And they did this right in front of the [National Assembly] NA building. [But] The MP assured us that, first, he does not have bodyguards, [and] second, the police did not take any one of his automobiles anywhere.

‘Vladimir [Gasparyan] is a friend of mine; I like, [and] respect him as a strong Police Chief. But I don’t walk around with bodyguards. Everyone knows this. I just don’t understand who makes up such lies,’ [Karapetyan said].

To note, [President] Serzh Sargsyan had instructed the police to ‘get rid of’ the bodyguards of MPs and businessmen, except for those in the list that he gave,” Zhoghovurd writes.
