YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) received a call, on Thursday at 10:39pm, informing that a road accident had occurred in Artashat city of Ararat Region and that rescuers were needed. 

A rescue squad and a firefighting team were dispatched to the scene, MES informed Armenian News-NEWS.am

It was found out that a VAZ 2109—with driver, approximately 40-year-old Arayik Melkonyan—had rolled over for yet unknown reasons and, as a result, Melkonyan died on the spot. 

Separately, passenger Hrach Davtyan, 64, sustained injuries and was taken to hospital prior to the rescuers’ arrival. And upon their arrival, the rescuers carried with a stretcher the other injured passenger, Arman Gasparyan, 24, and transferred him to the ambulance staff who took him to hospital.
