The reason for bloody incident in the military unit of Dashkesan region was humiliating treatment of soldiers. Two servicemen shot six not able to stand torture. Azerbaijani Defense Ministry confirmed the incident occurred, however specified neither the unit, nor the reasons. According to official data, soldiers committed suicide after they the crime.

According to former defense ministry official, retired lieutenant colonel Uzeir Jafarov, the servicemen who opened the fire were shot dead.

“We have been demanding that the army leadership be replaced. But instead, they are honored with the highest awards, and have reached a level of such self-confidence that incidents like this one have become ordinary,” RFE/RL quotes Jafarov.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, January 28, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. local time two Azeri soldiers opened fire at four servicemen and wounded 2 others. Thereafter, both soldiers committed suicide.Criminal proceedings were instituted. Presently, investigation is conducted.
