The possibility of war resumption over Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not ruled out, as the parties’ stances on principle matters are inconsistent," political scientist Stepan Grigoryan told NEWS.am commenting on the statement by the U.S. National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair that “fighting could flare between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.”

According to him, Azerbaijan, Turkey and other countries permanently make attempts in artificially accelerating the development of events which is likely to increase the risk of war. “However, today there is no war peril, as the process in OSCE Minsk Group goes on. Moreover, international community will never back a military showdown and both Armenia and Azerbaijan defer it,” Grigoryan noted adding Armenia has to ascertain from U.S. through diplomatic channels what induced Blair’s statement. “Currently, various states’ and powers’ interests intersect in our region, hence we have to pay great attention to such statements,” he concluded.
