CHARENTSAVAN. – The new industry of Armenia should be highly effective. The ruling Republican Party presidential candidate, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan stated this on Thursday during his talk with the voters at Charentsavan city of Kotayk Region, Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informs.
“After achieving [Armenia’s] independence [in 1991], our industrial cities found themselves in a difficult situation. But it is not the independence that is at fault here; the once operating factories could have worked solely under Soviet economy. Certain steps were taken to rectify this abnormal situation; they yielded some results.
Much is required for leading a full urban life, and this ‘much’ needs to be secured by new products and jobs. We are going on a new road. We are forming a new level of industry. Competitive goods with high added value should form the foundation of industry,” Sargsyan noted.
