YEREVAN. – A new format is put forth following the assassination attempt against Armenia’s presidential candidate, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan—who is recovering at hospital from a gunshot wound—, and he put forward new conditions. Fellow presidential contender, non-party affiliate, epic poetry specialist Vardan Sedrakyan said this during a press conference on Wednesday.

Also, he did not rule out the possibility that a ruling Republican Party MP could head to the executive body, after the presidential election, and, as a result, Hayrikyan could become an MP.

“The election campaign has turned into market relations. We will become convinced, in due course, that [opposition Freedom Party Chairman, former PM] Hrant Bagratyan and [opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM] Raffi Hovannisian likewise are nominated by the consent of the authorities,” Sedrakyan maintained.

To note, Paruyr Hayrikyan announced Tuesday that he will not petition to the Constitutional Court with a formal request to postpone the presidential election, and therefore the vote will be conducted on February 18, as planned.
