Though Kazakhstan and Turkey have no common borders they are connected by ties of friendship, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said at the meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Kanat Saudabayev.

The officials signed a number of cooperation agreements in statistics and natural disaster management. Speaking at the signing ceremony, Turkish FM recalled that Kazakhstan’s one-year presidency of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) started in January and Turkey takes over the presidency of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA). “This year Turk headed PACE for the first time. Almost all organizations are presided by Turks and Kazakhs. It will probably be a year of Kazakhstan and Turkey,” he emphasized.

Davutoglu also underlined that countries will work jointly to elaborate common Eurasian strategy and noted that Turkey is ready to assist Kazakhstan in every possible way during the latter’s presidency in OSCE.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, leaving for Kazakhstan Turkish FM stated that Ankara has political will to maintain peace and stability in the Caucasus, outlining: “Our strong political will regarding all types of efforts in the direction of the constitution of permanent peace and stability in the Caucasus exists,” Today’s Zaman quotes Turkish FM.
