Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s last decree on amnesty just as the previous acts does not solve the problem of political prisoners in the country, Director of Azerbaijani Institute for Peace and Democracy Leila Yunus told Turan agency.

“We are certainly happy for the release of Azadlig newspaper chief editor Ganimat Zahid. But obviously he is the only political prisoner who is released,” she noted.

According to her, the list of political prisoners by Azerbaijani human rights organizations comprises 59 people. Many of them serve for over 15 years in jail, for instance father and son — Vagif and Maghsoud Huseynov.

Former police officer Mushvig Madatov is imprisoned for over 11 years, young activist Ruslan Bashirli does 5 years of imprisonment out of 7.
