YEREVAN. – President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on Friday received chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Board and former PM of Armenia, Tigran Sargsyan.

The EEC is the executive body of the  Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) which comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

They discussed the current trends of development within the EAEU, the impact of Armenia’s accession to this union, cooperation between its member states, and forthcoming meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, press office of the President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Our citizens’ stance towards the Eurasian Economic Union is still with an air of waiting, to put it mildly,” the President said, in particular. “Albeit in the case of not becoming a member [in this union], I’m confident the negative approaches would have been more.”

President Sargsyan also stressed the work aimed at strengthening the trade and economic ties with third countries.

Tigran Sargsyan, in turn, thanked the President for this talk, and his constant attention and support toward the agenda of Eurasian integration.
