October 21, 2009 a major train accident occurred in Mathura, northern India. Two passenger trains collided killing at least 15 passengers. Presently, rescue operations are carried out to find nearly 40-50 trapped people in the smashed carriages, ITAR TASS reports.

According to Associated Press, the accident occurred 130 km far from New Delhi, when the train Mewar Express stopped at the semaphore red signal while the other crashed into the back of it.
