America's richest people, billionaires Bill Gates, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, have lost a combined $115 billion since the start of 2022, Bloomberg reports, citing its own billionaires index.

Yet Musk, with a net worth of $224 billion, remains the world's richest man - despite losing $46.4 billion. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos had $139 billion for a loss of $53.2 billion, while Bill Gates' wealth has shrunk by almost half - the founder of Microsoft, after losing $15.1 billion, had $23 billion.

However, Gates is not in the top three richest people on the planet as Bernard Arnault, LVMH head, lost $44.7 billion and had now $133 billion.
