President Donald Trump has signed the law on temporary government funding, which has ended the longest shutdown in the US history, CNN reports.

The document, approved by both chambers of Congress, provides funding until January 30, 2026, and enables the immediate resumption of federal agencies’ operations after a 43-day break.

When signing the law, Trump called on voters not to forget about this shutdown during the next elections. According to him, the Democrats were happy that millions of Americans were suffering. No one has ever seen anything like this, emphasized the US president.

But the key issue that caused this crisis remains unresolved. Republican senators have only pledged, but not guaranteed, to hold a separate vote on the extension of Obamacare subsidies.

In the next 2.5 months, members of Congress are expected to hold negotiations to adopt a full federal budget.
