Swiss court had agreed to release Roman Polanski on bail of about $4.5 million under the condition of restriction in his Swiss residence.

According to Spokesman for the Swiss Justice Ministry, Polanski’s release will not happen immediately, as the Ministry still has to decide whether to appeal against the his release, Associated Press reports.

The court decision can be appealed within 10 days.

Meanwhile, the office will not dispute court’s judgment, Reuters reads Nov. 26 referring to the Swiss Minister of Justice. There is no point in doing so, said Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf.

Roman Polanski was arrested on a charge of having sex with 13-year-old Samantha Geimer this September in Zurich. In 1978 he fled the U.S. to escape imprisonment. Earlier, the victim repeatedly applied to American authorities with a request to withdraw the case, as the filmmaker paid her compensation.

Currently, the U.S. demands Polanski’s extradition for court proceedings.
