Turkish authorities have announced the "neutralization" of Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq and the destruction of their depots and shelters. This was stated by the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey after the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) claimed responsibility for the explosion in Ankara a few hours later.
The explosion took place Sunday morning near a government building in the Turkish capital. Both attackers were killed and two police officers were injured.
"A total of 20 facilities, including caves, bunkers, hideouts, and depots used by the separatist terrorist organization were destroyed," the Turkish defense ministry said, adding that many militants were "neutralized".
