YEREVAN.- Armenian human rights organization Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor Office condemns MP Ruben Hayrapetyan’s violence against human rights defender Arman Veziryan.  

In a statement issued on Monday the Assembly demanded that Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan should appeal to the parliament to deprive Ruben Hayrapetyan from immunity and open a criminal case.

A candlelight vigil in memory of Vahe Avetyan killed last month was held Sunday nearby the Harsnaqar Restaurant. The police officers used force, pushed and tugged the people. Incidentally, MP Ruben Hayrapetyan was in Harsnaqar at the time and he hit Helsinki Association’s human rights defender Arman Veziryan.      

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, an incident had occurred at Armenian capital city Yerevan’s Harsnaqar Restaurant on June 17, where several military doctors including Edgar Mikoyan, Arkadi Aghajanyan, Garik Soghomonyan, Artak Bayadyan and Vahe Avetyan were brutally beaten by Ruben Hayrapetyan’s security personnel. Vahe Avetyan died in hospital on June 29.

The Restaurant’s owner is senior ruling party MP—who on July 3 submitted his resignation from his parliamentary seat—, Football Federation of Armenia President, and businessman Ruben Hayrapetyan.
