YEREVAN. – Armenian capital city Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan met with Harry Brinkman, the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) President and Mayor of Beemster, Holland. The delegates, who attended the Board of Directors session in Etchmiadzin city, likewise attended the meeting.

Margaryan underscored Yerevan’s membership to OWHC and remarked that it is necessary to make the cooperation become more active, Yerevan Municipality Information and Public Relations Department informs.

“Our collaboration is insufficient since our membership to the Organization in 2006. Yerevan Municipality underscores the Organization’s role and objectives and we need to increase cooperation. We will celebrate Yerevan’s 2794th anniversary in several days. Yerevan is a city with rich historical and cultural heritage, and our task is to build a city with new outlooks, but by preserving the old, historical and cultural areas,” Yerevan’s Mayor noted.

In their turn, the guests stated that Yerevan’s cooperation with OWHC will endow the city an additional opportunity for international recognition. And Harry Brinkman invited Taron Margaryan to Mexico City to attend the OWHC Board session to be convened in November 2013.
