YEREVAN. – There might not be a run-off in Armenia’s forthcoming presidential elections if all opposition candidates form a united front. Presidential contender, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan stated this during a press conference on Friday.
In his words, if the opposition unites around one opposition candidate, the ruling Republican Party’s presidential contender, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan will not even get half of the votes he expects.
“It will be much easier to achieve victory with a single team. Hence, by taking first place with the help of a political team, you become someone that can implement his programs,” he noted.
Paruyr Hayrikyan added that even though he considers himself to be one of the main presidential candidates, this does not mean he will win the election.
