YEREVAN. – If they think they will be elected President of Armenia, let them think. Come to the regions and see what is happening. Presidential candidate, opposition Freedom Party Chairman, former PM Hrant Bagratyan stated this during a press conference on Monday.  

He noted that the situation is quite different in the country’s regions. Unlike in capital city Yerevan, the people there boldly say what they think. Bagratyan expressed a view that, in this sense, “the Yerevan residents were violated” in the past twenty years.  

To Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter’s query as to whether the opposition candidates could unite and a power center could be established, the presidential contender responded:

“I would like to see a[n] [election] program. They all are obliged to say what they will do. A union is possible, but we need to put what we need to put on the [negotiation] table, and it should be acceptable.”  

If not succeeding in the presidential election to be held on February 18, Hrant Bagratyan is preparing to actively engage in his political party activities.
