YEREVAN. – Had Monday’s joint statement by Armenia’s three presidential contenders—namely, opposition Freedom Party Chairman, former PM Hrant Bagratyan, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan, and opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM Raffi Hovannisian—been presented to the ruling Republican Party candidate, serving President Serzh Sargsyan much earlier, he likewise would have supported it. Hayrikyan said this during a press conference on Tuesday.  

“As of now, we can consider the given statement already presented to the incumbent president. I believe he will respond [to this],” the presidential candidate noted. 

Hayrikyan added that many things rest on several individuals, at the given phase of the political processes in Armenia.

“I consider the joining of two or three [presidential] contenders to be likely,” Paruyr Hayrikyan noted.
