YEREVAN. – A total of 0.8 percent of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) members will vote for presidential hopeful, opposition Heritage Party Chairman Raffi Hovannisian in the February 18 election. Sociologist Aharon Adibekyan stated this during a press conference on Wednesday. 

As per Adibekyan, the preferences of the decided voters at the outset of the election are as follows: 20.7 percent of RPA members will vote for RPA candidate, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, 4.2 percent of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) members will vote for Sargsyan, and he will receive 0.1 percent from opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC), 0.4 percent from the opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party, and 0.2 percent from the coalition government’s junior member, Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party (RLP).    

Hovannisian, on the other hand, will receive 0.8 percent votes from RPA members, 3.4 percent from PAP, 0.5 percent from ANC, 1.7 percent from Heritage, 0.4 percent from ARF, and 0.1 percent from RLP.       

Presidential candidate, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan will receive 0.1 percent votes from RPA members, 0.6 percent from PAP, 0.1 percent from ANC, 0.1 percent from Heritage, 0.1 percent from ARF, and 0.1 percent from RLP.      

Presidential contender, opposition Freedom Party Chairman Hrant Bagratyan will receive 0.1 percent votes from RPA members, 0.1 percent from PAP, 0.9 percent from ANC, 0.1 percent from Heritage, 0.1 percent from ARF, and 0.1 percent from RLP.       

To note, the aforesaid opinion poll was held on January 18 and 19, and 1,650 adult residents of Armenia took part in the survey. A total of 2,320 people were actually proposed to take part in the opinion poll, but about 670 of them refused arguing that they are not interested in politics.
