March 23, RA Transport and Communications Minister Manuk Vardanyan received WB Armenia Country Manager Aristomene Varoudakis and Olivier Le Bert, Program Team Leader for the Transport sector in the South Caucasus and other World Bank officials.

Varoudakis presented the progress of transportation programs implemented by WB, Ministerial press service informed NEWS.am. The official noted that Lifeline Roads Improvement Project (LRIP) will launch this year. The initial financing made U.S. $25m, followed by another $36.6m. Varoudakis informed that the project aims at upgrading certain section of the roads of 240km.

The WB official also touched upon implementation of new road construction programs in the near future. He stressed that WB intends to allocate $35-40m loan till 2010 end intended for building and maintenance of 171km highway suspended by Millennium Challenge corporation.
