YEREVAN. - In 2016, the Armenian army fulfilled its mission with dignity, ensuring the security of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.   

Defense Minister of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan said the aforementioned at the Board session of the Defense Ministry, welcoming the participants and congratulating them on the 25th anniversary of the Armenian Armed Forces.  

Representatives of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army command also attended the session, the press-service of the Defense Ministry informed Armenian News – NEWS.am.  

“Of course, year 2016 was also one of trial for us, considering the April events and the adventurism of Azerbaijan. Our response and reaction precisely showed that our armed forces continue fulfilling their functions as a combat-ready structure,” he said.

The Minister also stressed that through consistent and tense work, joined efforts and introduction of the best international practice it is necessary to do everything to multiply the existing success.

Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Movses Hakobyan reported on the activity of the army in year 2016.

At the end of the meeting, a ceremony of awarding distinguished servicemen took place.
