YEREVAN. – The delay in the appointment of Armenia’s representative as the next Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretary General is an effective mechanism in Russia’s hands, to enforce decisions upon Armenia.

Armenian Center for Political and International Studies Director, political scientist Aghasi Yenokyan, told the aforesaid to 168 Zham (Hours) newspaper. He noted this reflecting on the CSTO Permanent Council draft decision, according to which, pursuant to the rotation procedure of this organization, Armenia’s candidate shall be the next CSTO Secretary General.

Yenokyan, however, is not sure that the leaders of the CSTO member countries will ratify the decision of the CSTO Permanent Council.

In his conviction, this matter has become a very effective mechanism for putting pressure on Armenia.

“This is one of the levers by which pressures are exerted, decisions are extracted,” added the political scientist.
