The expert group of the South Korea National Assembly concluded former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon can hold a public office in South Korea, despite recommendations by one of the UN resolutions.

The parliament studied the resolution adopted back in 1946 and found out that the document contains recommendations, not a ban, Yonhap reported.

Ban Ki-moon came back to South Korea earlier this month after 10-years work as a UN Secretary General.

After impeachment to President Park Geun-hye amid corruption scandal, Ban Ki-moon is named one of the possible candidates for the post.
