Russia is ready to consider U.S. proposal on a joint anti-ballistic missile (ABM) program, RF President Dmitry Medvedev said Sept. 23 at the 64th Session of UN General Assembly in News York.

“We consider this decision (the U.S. Administration on ABM) a constructive step in right the direction which was positively hailed by the international community,” Medvedev declared. He also pointed out Russia is ready to canvass the U.S. proposals “as well as our own initiatives on cooperation in this field for reaching mutually acceptable agreements.”

Medvedev called other nuclear power states to join efforts of Russia and the U.S. in nonproliferation program not looking back to the progress on the matter between Moscow and Washington. According to him, the paramount issue is establishment of mass-destruction-weapon free zone in the Middle East.
