In a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan discussed the sharp increase in diesel prices for trucks with foreign license plates at the Iranian customs checkpoint, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia informed in response to a written request by Sputnik Armenia.

Sputnik Armenia had reported that Armenian truck drivers had blocked the motorway leading to the Agarak checkpoint on the Iranian border. Under the current rules, Armenian trucks enter Iran with empty fuel tanks which must be filled upon return. But in recent days, the price of fuel at the customs checkpoint has risen sharply.

The Armenian MFA added that in order to obtain information on the causes of the situation caused by the increase in fuel prices in Iran and to seek ways out of this situation, it has launched and continues discussions with the Iranian side, and expects that the situation will be settled as soon as possible.

"We also inform that the issue was raised during the last phone conversation with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi," the Armenian MFA reports.
