Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan on Monday met with Asaad al-Shaybani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria, in Damascus.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the deputy FM conveyed the commitment of the government of Armenia to develop bilateral relations with the Syrian side, Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

The interlocutors exchanged views on potential domains of cooperation.

Kostanyan reiterated the readiness of the Armenian side to provide support in humanitarian domain and implementation of reforms, as well as various other priority programs in Syria.

Both sides emphasized the strong historical ties between the peoples of Armenia and Syria. In this context, they expressed support for the efforts aimed at creating an environment of solidarity and inclusiveness in Syria.

The interlocutors exchanged views also on regional developments, stressing the importance of normalizing of relations with neighbors.

The Syrian side highly appreciated the visit of the Armenian delegation to Damascus.

The two parties agreed to continue contacts.
