YEREVAN. – The New Times Party, led by its chairman Aram Karapetyan, will not run in Armenia’s upcoming parliamentary elections, Karapetyan himself told Armenian News-NEWS.am. And the reason, as per the Party leader, is that the format of these elections has depleted itself.

In Aram Karapetyan’s words, Armenia’s National Assembly is no longer—and will no longer be—that political structure in which he sees a reason to enter, since the political forces and the individuals now go there to solve personal matters.

And in response to the query as to whether he will not run in the presidential elections either, Aram Karapetyan said: “If nothing happens, I will run.”

“The presidential elections are the main battle in Armenia’s political course. The parliamentary elections [on the other hand,] do not bring a hope toward changing something,” Aram Karapetyan said, and he predicted that there will not be any societal outburst following the parliamentary elections.
