Georgia is on the brink of A/H1N1 virus epidemic, Deputy Director of the National Center for Disease Control Shota Tsanava told the journalists.

“We are on the verge of epidemic that cannot be treated as a threat, as in December we usually have the burst out of a common flu,” said Tsanava.

Meanwhile, he underlined that the flu has dangerous complications and doctors’ goal need to prevent them along with patients themselves. “There is no need to close schools, kindergartens and other institutions,” he stated.

To date, 227 swine flu cases are registered in Georgia, of which only 4 proceed with hospital treatment.
