Settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not abstract, and it is not the internal matter of Azerbaijan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated at his 2016 year-end press conference on Tuesday.
“For now, there is no consensus at the OSCE [i.e. the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe],” added Lavrov, according to TASS news agency of Russia. “There is an entire collection of decisions on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“The requirement of releasing the occupied territories is maintained; but not by force in any way, but by determining the final status of Nagorno-Karabakh.
“The pacific settlement of disputes is noted there [i.e. in the decisions, statements, and documents by the OSCE Minsk Group] without ambiguity.”
The Russian FM added, however, that the bloody events, which occurred in the region in April 2016, cause deep distress.
