On Tuesday, while on a working visit to Washington, D.C., Armenian Representative for International Legal Affairs Yeghishe Kirakosyan met with U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Co-Chair of the Committee on Armenian Affairs Frank Pallone, and other members of the Congress.

During the meeting, Kirakosyan discussed the situation resulting from Azerbaijan's September 13 widespread military aggression against Armenia's sovereign territory, NEWS.am was informed by the Office of the Armenian Representative for International Legal Affairs. He also spoke about the war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani soldiers during the aggression unleashed by Baku on September 27, 2020, the shelling of civilians and the illegal detention of Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan.

Kirakosyan also informed the U.S. congressmen about the systemic atmosphere of Armenophobia and racial discrimination prevailing in Azerbaijan.  He cited ongoing violations of the International Court of Justice and European Court of Human Rights interim measures following Azerbaijan's large-scale military attack on sovereign Armenian territory on September 13, including war crimes committed by Azerbaijani servicemen, humiliating treatment, torture of Armenian soldiers, desecration of bodies of killed individuals, and numerous other war crimes.

Kirakosyan thanked Pelosi and the congressmen for their continued support of Armenia and Artsakh.
