Armenia’s Gugark police officers stopped Ford Transit vehicle on Thursday night with the suspicion that it was carrying illegally cut trees, Armenian News-NEWS.am informs.

During the investigation, the driver claimed that he had picked up stumps in the wood early in July near the village of Vahagn.  The vehicle carried about 3.5 cubic meters of illegally cut wood.

According to Police cervice, size of the damage is being specified. Investigation is underway.

The illegal tree cutting is an important issue for Armenia with very limited natural resources, including forests.
