The United Nations (UN) Security Council on Thursday held a session devoted to peacebuilding in post-conflict regions.     

Armenia’s Ambassador to UN Garen Nazarian, likewise attended and addressed the event. 

Pointing to the international track-record throughout the world in this regard, Armenia’s Ambassador specifically noted that economic cooperation programs could be considered important confidence-building measures, even in the case when settlement talks are still in progress between the parties to the conflict.     

In his remarks, Ambassador Nazarian also noted that the South Caucasus needs coordinated regional initiatives and support programs, by donor countries and international finance institutions, to encourage the efforts toward establishing lasting peace and achieving sustainable development.
