make preferableYEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Ms. Hermine Naghdalyan on Thursday received Georgian Ambassador, Tengiz Sharmanashvili.
Naghdalyan noted that the close ties between the two friendly peoples have never given rise to suspicion and that this meeting is a good opportunity to also reflect on the interparliamentary cooperation, which is not as active as expected.
Ambassador Sharmanashvili likewise confirmed this reality, even though the presidents of both countries have held meetings and Armenian-Georgian ties have improved. He expressed a hope that there will be more chances to collaborate with Armenia’s new NA and pointed to his own readiness to contribute.
The interlocutors discussed the avenues toward deepening interparliamentary ties on the level of committees, and, in this connection, Hermine Naghdalyan noted that the NA has an Armenian-Georgian Interparliamentary Relations Committee, and asked Ambassador Tengiz Sharmanashvili for his help in increasing the members in the Georgian parliament’s Group of Friendship with Armenia.
Also, Armenia’s NA Deputy Speaker wished success in Georgia’s parliamentary elections slated for this fall.
