YEREVAN. – Tourism is on the rise in Armenia and the country’s regional recreational areas are growing, “Romea” Tour Club director Ruben Grigoryan said during a press conference on Monday.

In his words, the Armenia’s business and resort tourism is greatly developing at the same time.

According to official data, 758,000 tourists visited Armenia in the year past and they primarily preferred an active vacation.

Ruben Grigoryan noted that the Government’s public servant social packages, which are put into effect as of this year, secure great progress in terms of developing domestic tourism.

“They enable an affordable recreation in Armenia. We will see the results of these social packages in two-three years, when the Armenians will vacation in Armenia,” he said.

Ruben Grigoryan also stressed that there is an inaccurate view that vacationing in Armenia costs more than relaxing abroad.
