YEREVAN. – Sex education should be included in schools and universities for the youth and teens to receive responses by the professionals, sexologist Vrezh Shahramanyan said at a press conference on Wednesday.

“We should commence the upbringing from at least the current generation as they are freer and give them the right direction. If the parents keep silent, the street will educate their children instead,” Shahramanyan said adding sexology is the inseparable part of human’s general upbringing. People have always been interested how they were born, while very few parents are able to give the correct explanation.

The other participant of the conference, adolescent psychiatrist Arthur Poghosyan stated that the issue exists not only in Armenia but also in the world.

“This is based on the fact that parents in their childhood also did not get proper responses to their questions, they cannot provide their own children with it,” the psychiatrist said adding parents should be honest and to choose corresponding words proper to the child age while talking to them.
