GYUMRI.- Prosperous Armenia Party has nominated Samvel Balasanyan for the post of mayor of Gyumri, Armenia’s second largest city.

Talking to the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter, head of 34 election district’s commission Edward Baghramyan said the submission deadline expires on August 10.  

Rumor has it incumbent Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, who is not supported by the Republican Party of Armenia, will also run for the post.

The mayoral election is scheduled for September 9.

Earlier ARF Dashnaktsutyun said it would nominate Hovsep Simonyan for the pot of Mayor of Gyumri.
